While the theoretical capabilities of AI extend to automating a vast majority of tasks in fields like computer science, mathematics, and legal work, the current practical application is more limited. However, experts predict that this gap between potential and actual AI deployment will narrow, leading to increased job insecurity in affected sectors. Although widespread AI-induced layoffs have yet to materialize, a notable decline in hiring for high-AI-exposure roles among young professionals (ages 22-25) since the advent of ChatGPT suggests an evolving job market landscape, prompting a watchful approach to these occupational categories.
