Credor Unveils Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 with Exquisite Engravings

In a notable development, Credor, the esteemed high-end watchmaking arm of Seiko, has introduced its latest creation, the Goldfeather Tourbillon Engraved Limited Edition GBCF997. Established in 1974, Credor is celebrated for its commitment to showcasing the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking artistry. This newest offering, set to be a highlight at the Watches & Wonders 2026 event, further cements Credor's standing in the global luxury watch market, following its international expansion initiated in 2024 with the launch of the Locomotive model, originally designed by the legendary Genta.

The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 stands out from its predecessors, particularly last year's lacquer-decorated version, by embracing a captivating radial linear engraving. This meticulous technique, which first graced Credor's Calibre 68 over three decades ago, involves creating sharp grooves that brilliantly interact with light. To achieve this on the ultra-thin movement without causing damage, Credor's master artisans customize their tools, allowing for precise control over the applied pressure.

The watch's platinum dial, resembling a fine satin texture, features a mesmerizing pattern of ultra-fine engraved lines radiating from its center, evoking the delicate essence of a feather. These lines are meticulously crafted by repeatedly guiding a chisel along the same path, gradually deepening the cut. The seamless integration of this motif across the dial's two distinct layers is a testament to the unparalleled skill in linear engraving.

Complementing the dial's elegance, the peripheral chapter ring is adorned with elongated, hand-engraved Roman numerals in relief, while the minute track showcases nanako engraving—a traditional Japanese technique of finely aligned dots created with a round-tipped chisel. Post-engraving, a thin anti-corrosive plating is applied to protect the dial. At the 9 o'clock position, the tourbillon, nestled beneath an intricately shaped and openworked bridge, is finished in a striking blue, harmonizing with the sharply defined hour and minute hands.

Turning the watch over reveals an even more spectacular display of Credor's engraving prowess. The reverse side features a bold linear engraving, radiating from the tourbillon's carriage bridge and seamlessly extending across four separate components, punctuated by nanako dots. This is further enhanced by an arashi pattern, a series of individually engraved scattered dots created with a hexagon-tipped chisel, resulting in an extraordinary visual effect. The brand notes that a brushed finish is applied to the movement prior to engraving.

Consistent with Credor's luxury ethos, the Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 is encased in a hand-polished 38.6mm platinum case, featuring a remarkably slim 8.6mm profile. A flat sapphire crystal on the back offers a clear view of Credor's in-house Calibre 6850, which is regulated by a tourbillon escapement and equipped with a large mainspring and barrel, providing a substantial 60-hour power reserve.

This exquisite timepiece is paired with a classic black crocodile leather strap, secured by a triple-folding platinum clasp with a push-button release. The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Engraved Limited Edition GBCF997 is restricted to a production of just 25 pieces, each retailing at EUR 195,000.

This release from Credor is a powerful statement, demonstrating the brand's unwavering dedication to craftsmanship, artistic expression, and technical innovation in haute horlogerie. The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 not only honors traditional Japanese aesthetics and techniques but also pushes the boundaries of contemporary watch design, offering collectors a piece of wearable art that transcends mere timekeeping. Its intricate engravings and limited availability make it a highly desirable item for connoisseurs of fine watches, solidifying Credor's position as a significant player in the global luxury watch market.
