Rising Star's Bold Choice: Cricket Over Classrooms
A Promising Talent Chooses the Pitch Over the Exam Hall
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a budding sensation in the world of Indian cricket, made a significant decision this year by opting out of his Class 10 board examinations. This choice underscores the increasing importance of his cricketing commitments, which are now taking precedence in his rapidly ascending career. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 exams commenced on February 17 and are scheduled to conclude on March 11. However, the young cricketer was not present on the first day, despite having completed all necessary pre-exam procedures.
School's Confirmation of Vaibhav's Absence
According to school officials, Vaibhav had successfully submitted his examination form, and his admit card was duly issued for the exams. His designated examination center was Poddar International School. Nevertheless, he did not report for the scheduled paper. Confirming his absence, Principal NK Sinha of Poddar International School stated, "Vaibhav Suryavanshi is absent today. He did not arrive at the exam center. In accordance with CBSE policy, we have marked him absent. If a student does not appear for an exam, we are required to record them as absent. We had hoped he would come to take the exam, but he has many other responsibilities. It's likely he had a cricket match or practice. I believe he will certainly take the exam next time."
A Streak of Outstanding Performances on the Cricket Field
Vaibhav's absence from his academic evaluations coincides with a remarkable period of success in his cricketing journey. He has been in exceptional form with the bat, consistently delivering impressive performances. During the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup in 2026, he emerged as India's top run-scorer and secured the position of the second-highest scorer overall in the tournament. Across seven innings, he accumulated a total of 439 runs, showcasing an impressive average of 62.71 and a rapid strike rate of 169.50. His stellar performance included one century and three half-centuries.
Capping Off a Stellar Tournament with a Memorable Final
Vaibhav concluded the Under-19 World Cup in spectacular fashion, where he delivered an explosive innings of 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final match. This incredible display was highlighted by 15 boundaries and 15 sixes. His outstanding performance not only secured him the Player of the Match award but also earned him the prestigious Player of the Series honor, solidifying his status as a rising star in youth cricket.
Transitioning to Professional Leagues with Rajasthan Royals
Following his remarkable achievements, Vaibhav is now slated to join the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming IPL 2026 season, where he will play under the captaincy of Riyan Parag. Last season, he demonstrated his exceptional talent by scoring 252 runs across seven matches, which included a breathtaking century achieved in just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans. This move marks another significant step in his promising professional cricket career, highlighting his dedication to the sport.
