Diane Keaton's Personal Collection Goes Up for Auction at Bonhams

Instructions

Enthusiasts of Diane Keaton's distinctive aesthetic will soon have the chance to acquire items directly from her personal collection of furniture, artwork, and apparel. This coming June, Bonhams, in collaboration with The Fine Art Group, will host a series of four auctions, presenting hundreds of the iconic actor's cherished possessions.

The initial event, titled "The Diane Keaton Collection: Architecture of an Icon," will be a live auction in New York on June 8th. This sale will feature more than 50 of the Oscar winner’s personal artifacts. Among the notable lots are one of Keaton's signature bowler hats, a "cabinet of curiosities" from her private office, two collages crafted by Keaton herself, and the original, previously untitled screenplay for her seminal film, Annie Hall.

Beyond the live auction, three additional online sales are planned, each focusing on a different aspect of Keaton's creative sphere. "The Diane Keaton Collection: Tailored & Timeless" will run from May 31st to June 9th, offering over 200 pieces of clothing and accessories, including designs from esteemed brands such as Ralph Lauren, Thom Browne, and Comme des Garçons. Following this, "At Home with Diane" will take place from June 1st to June 10th, where bidders can compete for furniture and decor from Keaton’s residences. A particularly intriguing item is a metal step ladder, pre-arranged with one of her iconic top hats and other decorative elements on each step. The final online auction, "Chapters of an Edited Life," from June 1st to June 11th, will showcase a selection of the "First Wives Club" star’s personal art, books, and ephemera, including handwritten letters and scripts.

Dorrie Hall, Diane Keaton’s sister, remarked on the collection's significance in a press release: “Few individuals possess the rare ability to move between disciplines while maintaining a singular and unmistakable point of view. My sister, Diane, was one such person. To speak of her is to speak of instinct, an unerring visual and creative intuition that guided her across decades of artistic exploration. It is a privilege to introduce this collection and Diane’s personal world to you, which reflects not only a lifetime of looking, but a lifetime of truly seeing.” These auctions offer a unique opportunity for fans and collectors to own a piece of Keaton’s curated world, reflecting her enduring impact on style, film, and design.
