Greubel Forsey Balancier QM: A Masterpiece of Hand-Finishing

Instructions

Greubel Forsey has unveiled a breathtaking new timepiece, the Balancier QM, which redefines the benchmarks for hand-finishing in horology. The brand's Experimental Watch Technology (EWT) Laboratory has meticulously applied its new 'Qualité Musée' standard to all 298 components of the in-house GF09CM caliber, ensuring that every detail, visible or not, receives an artisanal touch. Techniques such as black polishing, anglage, rocking, and circular graining are expertly employed, showcasing an extraordinary commitment to craftsmanship.

Beyond its internal marvels, the Balancier QM is housed in an elegant 18K white gold case, measuring 39.6mm in diameter and 12.25mm in thickness, including its sapphire crystals. The watch boasts a clear, readable display featuring an offset sub-dial with blued hands that perfectly complement the hand-sewn blue rubber strap. A 72-hour power reserve indicator and a small sub-seconds dial add functional sophistication to its aesthetically pleasing design. The watch’s manual-winding GF09CM movement, with a frequency of 21,600 vph, incorporates two coaxial series-coupled fast-rotating barrels, including one with a slipping spring to prevent over-tension. Greubel Forsey’s dedication to in-house production extends to its hairsprings and two-level escapements, all exquisitely finished.

This limited-edition masterpiece, with only 33 pieces available, truly stands out as one of the most exceptional timepieces of 2026. Its harmonious blend of intricate mechanics and wearable design makes it a desirable object for discerning collectors. The Balancier QM exemplifies the fusion of artistic expression and engineering precision, offering not just a timekeeping device, but a wearable sculpture that elevates the art of watchmaking.
