Intel Arc B390 iGPU: Impressive Performance for Integrated Graphics

Instructions

Initial evaluations of Intel's latest Core Ultra Series 3 mobile processors at CES 2026 showcase a noteworthy advancement in integrated graphics, with the Arc B390 iGPU delivering surprisingly capable gaming performance.

During a brief hands-on session, the Arc B390 was put through its paces, notably in demanding titles. For instance, in Cyberpunk 2077, running at 1200p with high settings and no upscaling, the iGPU managed a respectable average of 53 frames per second. Activating XeSS (Intel's upscaling technology) to 'Quality' preset further boosted the frame rate to 74 fps, providing a remarkably smooth experience for an integrated solution. Even with ray tracing enabled (Ray Tracing: Ultra) and frame generation, the iGPU achieved 70.31 fps, a testament to its potential, albeit with the caveat of potential latency issues in real gameplay due to the low base frame rate. While Borderlands 4 proved more challenging, the iGPU still maintained 40-45 fps with XeSS Quality at 1200p high settings. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, an older but still graphically intensive title, the Arc B390 achieved an impressive average of 75 fps at 1200p high settings without any upscaling, showcasing excellent image quality and fluidity.

These preliminary results indicate a promising future for integrated graphics in the mobile computing landscape. The Arc B390's ability to handle modern games with such proficiency suggests a potential shift, making gaming more accessible on slim and lightweight laptops that lack a discrete GPU. This could be a pivotal moment for consumer notebooks, broadening their appeal to a wider audience, including those who may not prioritize gaming but would appreciate the option for casual play. The performance observed is an encouraging sign, sparking anticipation for more comprehensive testing under controlled laboratory conditions to fully assess its capabilities and implications for the gaming market.
